Also I think you can underestimate these ponds due to how small they look...however there are usually pretty deep....so there is more room and capacity than alot of shallow ponds of same size

Borrow Pit is what I think they call them in FL - where the water table is so close to the surface - they have to build up to build, thus creating little lakes and canals.
In Leesburg, VA it's more than likely a Storm Water Detention Pond - with VA red clay bottom. I'm sure it's has storm drains feeding it.
If you give us an idea where it's located - chances are - it's been fished before by some of us. I've fished almost every pond in the Ashburn / Leesburg area - although if it's 2008 - it's likely in a new developement and the fish may still be small. Fish it at night with a topwater if you want to see it's potential.
There's alot of good fishing in your vacinity if you look around!

Yes I am slowly starting to find some nice places. This particular one has only been around since 10/2008 so who knows
