For me, fishing shallow water means sight casting and that usually equates to a subtle presentation like a small profile soft plastic (Confidence Baits Little Tubes, Floating Birds, 4" senkos, etc.) are killer for me personally. Others may prefer a different approach.
As far as fishing all day long, I take the approach of packing a small lunch, and I will scout the area via Google or just paddle around and look for a good rest spot about mid-day. It doesn't even have to be anywhere I can actually get out and beach the kayak. It could be a shallow flat area or a large rock in the middle of the river. Anywhere basically to stand and stretch or sit in a traditional manner to take the strain off of my lower back.
A quick 20-30 minute break mid-day can go a long way to helping make your all day trip easier on your body and re-energizes/ re-centers your focus for the second part of the trip.
