So I wander into the Goodwill the other day and see a fishing rod across the store. I dash over and find a Daiwa GC-80 Reel on a Daiwa Megaforce 602MRB Rod. All Brand new..handle still shrink wrapped, reel wire tied to rod, upc codes intact, everything brand new and unused as near as I can tell. So for the Goodwill Price of $12.99 I bought it. Later I checked the prices for hee rod & reel at retailers. I seem to have realized quite a savings. So I'd love to hear your suggestions on how I should work this rod\reel combo into my upcoming kayak bass fishing season. Lines, Lures, whatever. Thanks!

I know someone who found a Pocket Fisherman recently and plans to do just that..

I've heard of at least one guy who has modified one of the better quality Diawa closed-faced reels like that by upping the drag somehow, spooling it with forty pound braid and using it for skipping. Supposedly you can skip anything really far with one, which makes sense from what I know about them. Seems like you'd need to up the drag to be able to really use it, though, but I have no idea how that could be done.
