Ur kidding, right? Learn to tie KNOTS...period.

The only thing I would use a snap for (note not snap-swivels) is topwater where I want to 1) insure that the bait as freedom to "walk" and 2) with braid, simply because the braid is so strong at the knot I can install a snap on a topwater rig and change baits throughout the day and never worry about degredation of the connection.

In the video he mentioned "spinnerbaits" and I almost blew tobacco juice all over my laptop.

I do however use swivels on Carolina rigs and Donkey rigs, but not snap-swivels.

Dont really use swivels for anything freshwater but drop shot and carolina rig. Even so I usually end up using the heavier salt water ball bearing swivels with a tactical clip.

which as far as snaps/clips, your missing one of my and many others favorite, the tactical clip which is probably the toughest snap of them all. Id challenge almost anybody on a kayak o find a fish that could break these things.

also missing norman or spro split snaps which are awesome for freshwater crankbaiting. Eliminates the need for for a split ring (but can still be used with a ring) on your crank baits while at the same time allowing you change baits very easily.

I have to take umbrage with that guy for his favoring the first bent wire snap vs a cross-lock. I doubt that that first snap would hold up to a single big redfish run......but...the cross lock does it daily.

And, yes, of course, using a cross lock ( or ANY other snap) without a swivel would lead to twisted line.

Each to his own, I guess. I agree with his assessment of the sampro swivels, though. Rich

p.s. Oh yes, Mr. Deuce, I couldn't agree with you MORE on the fast snaps (tactical clip) or whatever one wants to call them. I just ordered a couple of packages on-line since I couldn't get them locally.

They will replace my cross locks and everything else if they are the right sizes.

You can, with a bit of additional pulling, add sampro swivels when needed, too. Rich

Thanks for all the good information. The hardware pictured is not available to me in Sporting good stores so I'll go on line and try them out.

Thanks Richg99,
I agree with you on the snaps. Best to have hardware that will be up to the task.

I find Duo Snaps to be effective, inexpensive, and easy to use. Pretty much I have them tied onto two rods at all times for easy and quick switching out of hard baits.

Been using Norman Spro Split snaps like Mrduece posted. I do more crankbaiting then anything when I am not fly fishing.
I like the Duo snaps but they are terrible in the junk and where there is a lot of moss.

Still looking fo a good fast snap like tactical snaps but none locally so have to wait til I get a chance to hit BPS.

Always tie directly to spinnerbaits and walk the dog type baits, no exceptions!!

I used to use snap swivels years ago but I haven't bought any in years. I prefer to tie. It takes a little longer but it doesn't change the buoyancy or action of the lure.
