I was throwing a black/blue jig off a point in about 8 feet of water when I set the hook into a large fish. The fish came towards the surface quickly making me very excited at the chance of a huge bass. However the fish never made the surface and dove deep, rolling and shaking it's head and I knew that I had a large catfish. After about a ten minute fight I got the boga grip into this guy. This is the third largest catfish I have caught out of Burke but the only one that I have had a buddy with me to snap a picture. It weighed 18 pounds and was 34 inches long. Here it is:

Bass fishing was also good this day (Thursday May 12) with fish coming off points and a hump in 4-10 feet of water. The lures of the day were roboworms and chatterbaits in dark colors.

Nice cat!!
Yeah, every time you hook a large cat the first thing that goes through your mind is "I'VE GOT A HOG ON THE LINE!!" Still a lot of fun to catch

Tonight is the first time I noticed it was WHISKER! That makes so much more sense I've been thinking for a year, "man. I like bourbon, but this guy REALLY likes it!" I've even told friends of mine, "hey, did you see that post the Whiskey Wrangler made?"...Yeah I've even been trying to rationalize it... I thought maybe your job was to transport the casks around the distillery or something. -knobcreekman

Nice fish. I was showing this to a guy at work and turns out you guys are good friends and I probably met you at his wedding. Tom Reilly. Small world. We will have to meet up some time and do some fishing.
