So far March is all open for me, but my schedule is on a daily basis until everyone submits their vacation for 2012, and that has to be submitted by the middle of Feb, so until then it's on a day by day basis. We're not opposed to camping on an island neither.

Likewise, I would not be opposed to camping on an island. I have the gear to camp big or small.

Camping you say? I'm down :D . I'd love a two day trip of fly fishing.

If you are still planning this I have a location that will give is numerous floats.
1. Locust Fork River Lower
2. Locust Fork River Upper
3. Locust Fork River After WW Section,
4. An all day float on the LF after the WW section
5. Mulburry Fork of the Warrior River. (Some of the bigges spots in the state)
6. About 3 floats on the Little Warrior River (or Little Locust Fork River)

All with in 10 minuts of a potential Camping area. It would be a big field, with pleanty of place for tents, and a large fire, and a place to swim and hang out on the river with grills and rope swings for when the fishingg gets boring.

Most of these rivers are reliable for the spring time, and floats will be easy. Some will require a little bit of easy portage.

Man, all the interest in this this trip is great. It is going to be tough deciding on where to go. I know at least a couple people want to do some fly fishing and I think the Coosa or Cahaba would be the best places for that, at least out of the three I mentioned. It also sounds like a few people would like to do the overnight trip on the Cahaba. I would be up for that, but it is a remote place with no facilities on the river what so ever!!! There are plenty of hotels within 20-45 minutes though for anyone who lives too far away to just drive down on the morning we planned to launch or who just wants to get there Friday night. If we choose that trip, I can suggest a place or two and may even be able to meet some people on Friday and take them fishing on a different section of the river or a lake. I have a couple of good places in mind that are about 30-40 minutes away.

Rivercrawler, what section of the Mulberry Fork are you referring to? I've always wanted to fish there also. How big is it upstream? I know the fishing in the area down close to the Warrior has declined somewhat the last few years due to industry and pollution, but I hear the middle and upper sections are still very good.

I have an idea, you can setup more than one trip. Say one trip one weekend then 3 to 5 weeks later another outing. It would be great for us to be able to get together hang out, fish, and network.

EDIT: Or one spring, one fall, or one spring, one summer, and one fall.

Here in Tennessee we are going to try to assemble regular outings with several camping trips intregrated into them. When ever we decide the dates and locations I wouldn't mind others joining us as long as there is room of course. I would like to try to do 4 to 5 camping trips here a year.

I hear ya! That is exactly what we are trying to get started down here. Not2Day has posted a roll call of sorts on the KBF Nation, Alabama page. We are hoping to have several meetings/events at alternating locations. I think we could at least have a big Rally type event each season. I fish year round and you can tell from looking at my Cahaba post from last Feb and Mar that I'm usually wearing shorts and wading the river by then.

For this event, I will post more pictures of each location that may help some people decide where they would rather go. I guess we could just take a vote and if our first choice falls through, it really isn't too far between locations. I would think we can get the word out quickly here on KBF and through PM's if we had to change meeting locations. Most of the campgrounds down here are first come first served for tent sites anyway.
