Cabin Creek Tubes

Postby wolfewiz » Tue Dec 27, 2011 12:22 pm

Just bought a couple packs today, was wondering what some of you guys that use these like for colors and rigging options for both crawfish and baitfish immitation? Any "go to" colors for you tube dudes (sm/lm)? I had some success with tubes in 2011 so I am expanding my color selection and plan on using more in 2012. The colors I bought today are pumpkin pepper w/chartreuse tail and also Salt and Pepper Smoke Pepper. Thanks in advance.

Nice small tube ... a staple in the mid-Atlantic flows. Very thin walled, allows for easy collapse when the hook's set. Nice selection of colors. Choose any color you like, as long as it's green. Best supply I've found is a little tackle shop up in Chambersburg, PA.

I just poured an assortment of insert tube jigs for a buddy to try with them. I like 2/0 hooks, but he wanted some a bit smaller to experiment with.

Browns to green to imitate craws and blacks or purples to imitate baitfish.

Those 2 Colors you bought are the top colors here on my Homewater in WV.

I fish those colors more with Senkos and 3-4" Grubs than with Tubes and they really produce here.

Being from Central KY do you fish Elkhorn Creek? I fished it several times when I lived in OH. I love that little Creek.

I love Elkhorn Creek. The LM in my profile photo is from the North Fork of the Elkhorn.

I have no experience with Cabin Creek but, I fish tubes a LOT and successfully. That said, as far as colors go, for craws, try to match the river bottom, greens (pumpkin, watermelon and the like) and browns. Baitfish, white, blues, smokes and you should be good. Check out the link below. Smoke Silver/Gold is an awesome jack of all trades type color. Close enough to it all. Looks like wet concrete in person.
