New River Trip this year?

Postby Mr. Wilson » Mon Feb 13, 2012 1:00 pm

I really want to do some serious fishing, maybe for a week, on the New River. From what I've read, that seems to be about as good as it gets for SMB in VA.. I hope there will be a trip planned by folks here that know the river well..

If nobody plans one & you want to fish it, then get out there and fish it :D Not trying to be short, but sometimes you can't wait. Do a little research & talk to local DNR guys to get some kayak friendly areas.

There maybe a few guys over that way who would help out or even go along

Here are some rodeo's coming up.... You might have to register to view these board post, I can't remember.
James River April 24-29th

There was one around here on the New, last year that I was unable to make it to, and looks like it is going to be Sept 5-9th this year.

Some guys from NCangler and from the river bassin forums usually do a trip 2 to blue cat on the new. I haven't seen any posts yet for this year. I went down one day and fished with these guys and had a great time, I was not able to camp, but it is a really nice place.

There are lots of nice places to camp on the New, I would say if you can not find a group with dates already planned, and have dates in mind and an idea of what area of the new you want to hit. Post it in a few of these forums, and I am sure you will have plenty of people step up to help, and join you, if you wish.

If I can help you in any way let me know.

No date yet on this as far as I know. Keep tabs on ncangler though, the discussion about a possible date has started: http://www.ncangler.com/forums/threads/ ... iver-(Mts-)?p=318821#post318821
