Traded up? Need help again

Postby Paddletrucker » Thu May 03, 2012 12:41 pm

Well, my brother decided he liked my Wright & McGill rig, so....I sold it to him. I needed to go to BassPro, unfortunately the only place around that sells anything fly fishing), and I had decided I wanted a TFO after doing some reading. So, I picked up a 9 foot TFO NXT outfit. It's also an 8wt, but I like the feel of it better than the W & M. It's lighter and smaller. I hope it was a trade up. I think it is. I already like it better. I picked up some flies, fly line, leaders/tippets, and a new landing net. Last week, I lost a MONSTER because I had lost my landing net a few weeks back. I will not go out again without a landing net.

Now, I need to know how to reverse the TFO NXT. It says that it is reversible, but there aren't any directions. The W&M was simply a matter of flipping the bearing around. On the NXT, the bearing is inside the spool. Can someone please tell me?

Let me know if you want me to twist up a custom furled leader.

I'll be churning out a few over the next couple of days getting ready to chase the elusive grass bass (tailing redfish) on Saturday.

that was a very good trade, TFO makes a good rod for the money.

I just came in from practicing with it and I like it far better than the W&M. Now, my brother has an 8wt, too. We're planning a river striper fly fishing trip for Sunday.   If he can make it back to town (he's a truck driver, too) from Iowa in time. we're going to a place below a dam on a lake here where striper fishing is good. It will not be a kayak trip, but I'm still looking forward to it.
