Fly Tying Shopping List?

There is some great info on here about getting started in fly tying. About 15 years ago my neighbor came to me and said "he bought a fly tying kit". I seen some of his aweful creations and thought I can do better than that. Not realizing that he loved his ugly bugs and they caught fish. If you would have seen these things you would have thought "I am never tying that crap on my line"

I never had any idea of what flies I wanted to ty for my first but ended up tying a wolly bugger. Back then I never fished a wolly bugger, now it is one of my favorite go to flies for fresh water. Crappie love them. For striper fishing I love a clouser minnow.

Some of my best producing flies have been the simplest flies.
