Howdy y'all from northern VA

Postby Slowmonky007 » Tue Jun 05, 2012 10:50 am

Hi everyone. I don't have a kayak yet but trying to get into the sport. From the stuff I've read here y'all are a great bunch of people that really love fishing. In my book that makes everyone here great! Hope to get a yak very soon. See y'all on the water!!

Welcome aboard - if you're free Saturday, make a trip down Rt. 15 to Farmville and come check out all the kayaks on display for their annual Demo Day!!

If you make it to the ARC demo day, stop by the Heroes on the Water tent and say "howdy" - and don't let Jim scare you away, he's really a nice guy. ;)

Welcome to the site. If it's an option, test drive some yaks before you buy. Lots of folks here that are from your neck of the woods. They are more than willing to help out if you need it. I've learned lots reading and asking questions. Heck, I didn't know what "Photobucket" was, and these folks helped when I asked questions. They probably thought I lived under a rock. Proud certified "Photobucket" user now. Good luck and welcome again.
Heck, tinkering with this fishing stuff
is half the fun of using it!!

Welcome!! They are plenty of us Northern VA anglers here. Put up a better location in profile, if you want, so that it's easier to meet up with others on the water

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I may try to make it down there Saturday. The girlfriend is working so it would be a great time to go! Is the demo day sat and Sunday? I'm also glad to see this is an active forum. I've been on some others with no response for days! Any suggestions for yaks to test paddle?

More informatin will help get you better suggestions. Things like what type of waters you primarily fish or will be wanting to fish, your height/weight, do you want to be able to stand, have any limitations on lifting heavy items, etc. There are so many boats every bit of information helps.

The demo day is Saturday only but runs all day long. You can paddle or pedal any number of kayaks from every major manufacturer.....

We're talking: Wilderness, Native, Ocean Kayak, Hobie, Phoenix, Jackson, Perception, etc......

Come on down....the folks at ARc will help you and get you in the right boat. Several members from TKAA and KBF will be on hand at the various vendor booths to help you on brand specific questions.

We'll also have a Central VA Heroes On the Water booth where you can meet some KBFers as well........kayakfish, vakayakangler, Lonestar, UTVOLYaker, Hanover Yakker, possibly BigYaker, etc.
