Couple Of Nights Out

Postby Neo » Sun Apr 08, 2012 9:03 pm

I had the chance to spend a couple nights on the water over the weekend so I to advantage of it.
Friday I really just wanted to get out there for a few hours and catch the bite just before and just after sundown and thats what I did. The sky was perfectly clear and with a full moon it was a beautiful night. The air was a little cool and almost no wind so the water was like glass.
Air Temp at the time I launched was about 80*.
Water Temp ???? Left the battery to my ff at home.
The frog/toad bite is in full swing and I stuck a couple on a Rage Toad then I switched to a Strike King Buzzbait. I didn't realize I had forgotten my little box of stuff I like to fish at night with so I tied that honking assed buzz bait on and went to work. Turns out it I really like it.

I think I need help  .

Saturdays weather was a repeat of Friday. STELLAR!
I fished a lot longer but with fewer results but still had some success. I gotta tattle on myself first though. I changed skirts on the buzzer I was using Friday so when I got on the water I decided to go ahead and tie it on. Just for the heck of it I decided to cast it a few times dinking around; I cast it past this algae/moss bed and KABOOM!!! Scared the piss out of me!
I prematurely jerkulated and missed a hog.  DANG IT!
On to the rest of the evening. Toads did the majority of the damage but I did manage a few on that buzzbait.
Now for your viewing pleasure.

Nice report! It's got to be kind of freaky out on the water alone like that in the dark!

The freaky part is the 11' gator that shares the water with me. :D

I do have a way with words. ;)
Right out of the package it ran true and makes a lot of noise running across the water.
That's a waste of $50 on my feet. Should have looked into an actual pair of water shoes. They're ok at keeping leaves and stuff out but sand gets in them really easily and is a PITA to get washed out.

11' gator, I guess that would make you the midnight snack. Man I don't how you could get in Kayak with 11' gator swimming around especially in the dark.

Great Job on catch a little crazy if you ask me ;)

Hell with the gator, I can deal with him. How do you deal with the mosquitoes??????? South Louisiana at night with this weather would equal to my kayak drifting silently by itself as I am carried away to be munched on by 1,000,000 blood suckers.

We have tried the night fishing thing here and the mosquitoes just make it to much of a hassle & miserable.
