Small water doesn't mean small fish.

Smiley and I went to one of our favorite small flows today so she could get some fishing in since she can't fish at the GA rodeo this weekend. Unfortunately she fished her butt off only to lose a freaking monster spotted bass right at the end of our float. Well we paddled/fished three miles upriver and then fished back down and right before we got back to the truck she lost that hog. She tossed her spinner bait to a shallow sandbar and WHAM! She hollered that she had a big fish and when i turned to look I saw a HUGE spot launch three feet in the air and spit her spinner bait. She had five other fish just bump her spinner bait but they wouldn't take it. I got one real nice spot at the first shoal we came to. Tossed my five inch bullshad right below the shute and let it drift over a rock when the big spot just bulldogs the swim bait . The fish was right at 20" long and i didn't get a weight but I am sure it was just under four pounds. I ended up with one more chunky spot that slammed my spinner bait when i was waking it just below the surface past a rock outcropping that hat wood on it. That fish was s solid 2.5lbs. Then in the same area another spot the same size grabbed my spinner bait with about ten inches of line out and i just lifted it out of the water but it just as quickly came off. Was quite the scare and surprise. I really wish Rachael would have landed that big girl, man that fish had some shoulders and it just broke Rachael's heart.....big time. we didn't kill them but it was a really enjoyable day on a beautiful small flow.

Awesome fish Jason, and I'm sure Rachel will redeem herself soon. It's sad me loosing a big fish, but I think it actually hits harder when one of our loved ones looses a big fish.

I got the confirmation email that my Bull Shads shipped Wednesday from Mike. I have a few rods coming from Tackle Warehouse that should have been here yesterday, but I hope will be here today, so I'll be able to test the Bull Shads out with Canonman in his neck of the woods.
