Fourmile Creek 6-6-10

Did some paddling this morning in Fourmile Creek, off an Oxbow of the tidal James River. I couldn't coax any bass into the boat, but the catfish were definately cooperating. Fished from 8 to Noon and landed a dozen channels or so and this little blue.

Most of the fish were good eating size, but Im scared of eating James River cats. I kinda want to take advantage of the recent catfish bite and catch some dinner from a reservoir. Years ago we'd catch a bunch of cats, cut them into chunks, batter em up, deep fry them, and feast on "catfish chunks" with assorted dipping sauces. I see that happening again real soon.

You talking about Fourmile Creek, I decided to figure out exactly where you're talking about since that's in my old neck of the woods. Using Google Earth, I found a really nice looking pond that happens to be adjacent to a good friend of mine's parent's house (they have a good bit of land). I finally might have my first "private" farm pond I can fish. I've already sent my buddy the email
