If that is the case - you should also qualify how you plan on fishing them. For example, if your are going to be throwing these larger plastics weightless, then the St. Croix Mojo Bass Wackey Style 6'8" MXF would be fine. It has a good backbone and has handled several 20+" LMB for me over the last year or so. Now if you are talking using heavier weights like a punch rig, then the rod may not be the best.

One of the main focus points about fishing wackey and shakey head presentations is doing so in a more delicate "finesse" presentation. Like our good friend jfrancho reminds people all the time, finesse fishing is about presentation and not always about lure size. You can toss a 10" Power Worm on a drop shot or shakey head and still be considered finesse if you are using delicate/fine movements or even dead-sticking. Having the right rod paired with the proper line/leader combination to allow you to fell the lure is paramount.

For me, 2 of the rods mentioned here serve this purpose well, the aforementioned St. Croix I have, and the Berkley Lightning rod, which I have had 2 of, mentioned by w2n earlier in the thread.

Dobyns Savvy 692. Great rod for wacky rigging, drop shot, shaky heads and all that other fun stuff. One on my yak at all times.

For weightless plastics... even with the issues I AM having... that Medium Mojo Bass spinning rod of mine does a great job of tossing the weightless plastics (my favorite technique BTW)

Went ahead and order a 6'6 Temple Outfitters Gary Loomis ML Fast tip 4-10 lb line.
I'll let you know how it works out.

I think you'll like that rod! Good chance that all my spinning rods from this point out will be this brand

does this change any of the recommendations.

By the way thanks for all of the advice. I wish i had started bass fishing when I started trout fishing.

Well, it depends. I have three different Mojos that I use with plastics; 7' MH Fast (Casting) that I use for toads, Carolina Rigs, and heavy cover T-Rigged plastics, a 6'6" MH Fast (Casting) that I use specifically for T-Rigged 6-8" worms/lizards/creature baits, and a 7' Med/Fast (Spinning) that I use for Senkos & Flukes.

However, if I was looking for ONE rod specifically for wacky rigged plastics, particularly for lighter cover applications, I would go to the 6'8" Med/XFast (Spinning). FYI, in the casting rods, the same blank is sold as the "topwater" rod.

That TF is a good rod, but it is a light action to be punching hooks through a hunk of plastic and then into bass flesh; with a 4-10lb line rating I would classify this rod as an ultra-light LMB rod. Remember, comparing bass fishing to trout fishing is about the same as comparing MMA to boxing.

I use a 6'6" M/F Falcon Bucoo. It's a great little rod. Got some backbone, sensitive tip, and light as a feather.

I'm looking at the TFO Loomis Rod. I got a couple more I wanna add to the cause. And I think TFO is the way I'm gonna go.

I have got that same Falcon Bucoo in a Baitcaster. I don't use it for Plastics but it is a great Rod for 1/4-3/8 Spinnerbaits and smaller Crankbaits.

It's the first Falcon I have ever owned and I am really impressed with it.

I have a lighting rod that I use for my senko fishing. It works well and I picked it up for $25 on sale. Braid will help alot with feeling a lite bite but I have my setup rigged with high vis yellow mono to see if a fish swims off with my bait and it works well for me. Caught a largemouth yesterday that swam off with a tube and the high vis line made it easy as pie to spot. I think most people rig with yellow power pro braid and a leader but I just had the yellow mono laying around.

I also use the yellow power pro but i do not use a leader. I just take a black sharpie and color the last 3-5 feet of line and i haven't noticed a decrease in my catch rate sicne i switched from both mono to green power pro with a leader and now to yellow with no leader.

Over time the power pro coating somewhat wears off and it is not nearly as obnoxious as it takes on a more pale yellow hue but it is still very visible.
