Finally pulled the trigger and got a new SOT.Now i need to slime it somewhere other than in my back yard, which may have been possible as Lee and Katja inundated the east coast.
Last Sunday 9-4 i did manage to get it wet in a local pond while my grandson enjoyed his first outing using my old sink.
I have to admit it's tough casting while keeping a watchful eye and giving pointers. his accuracy improved while mine deteriorated and even though he missed the one strike he had his smile at the end of the outing told me he had a blast. a pair of small greenies tried to slaughter my spinnerbait being tossed errantly towards the shore and dragged through the pads.
Not a bad 2 hours spent on small waters but the new craft yearns for larger bodies of water but everything I've seen recently has the clarity of heavily creamed coffee. Hopefully the skies will remain clear this week as the sediment settles and water levels will return to something that approaches normal.
Today 9-11, I returned to the same pond alone only to be treated to a lightshow before I could launch. After retreating to my truck for cover I waited patiently and listened to the ravens steelers game on the radio . knowing the storm was coming from the direction of the stadium I was paying particular attention to the announcers description of the weather conditions as I waited maybe a mile away .
The skies cleared as the game ended . I walked to an opening in the trees to view another round of clouds and lightening headed my way .
Dejectedly I packed up, strapped down and headed for another pond on Dorsey Rd (too small to launch in). where I proceeded to catch 3 large bullfrogs that were intent on devouring my plastic offering. somewhere in that pond there has to be a monster bass that keeps them in check.
Certainly i can maintain my sanity until the next opportunity to launch.
or can I?
