Great job finding the used yaks. The best trailer in my opinion is the Rack n Roll from Yakima. If you go to Appomattox River Company's website, they also have another one you could look at.

Appomattox River Company, carries the trailx and the Yakima Trailer they are in Farmville VA, @ paddleva.com, .
We have the Yakima Rack N Roll and also had the very first one that came out before yakima bought them and we love the Yakima Trailer you can can carry up to 350 pounds on it, and we have carried 2 16 foot Hobie Adventures and athe biggest rocket bowx Yakima makes all the way to Fl, with no problems, what so ever.
It may cost a little more but they stand up to the test, and you can use them for any kind of configuration. ;)

I'm in Sterling and ordered about 1/2 dozen yaks from Appomatux. Great people. Get them to ship it and you'll pick it up in a freight company up by Manassas or plan a family road trip.

Not sure how much money you have. If $$'s are not an issue, get a yakima or malone or trailex ($2-3k) If money's an issue, get a $500 trailer for a jon boat or from tractor supply & do some creative conversions. Or if you're handy get a used one and fix it up. Buddy built a yak trailer for under $500 that was sweet. Here's another option, but I know nothing about http://www.portagepal.com/

Lotsa local spots ato fish around the area. Know the river's you'll float. We have some fun ones, but some may be more fun than you want to bite into. Do your research before taking a float. Think about joining PRSC (http:www.prsc.org) Nice conservation club for the Potomac & local rivers. Great group of guys & gals.

Welcome, Nova definitely has a good presence on here. I hear Appomattox has the biggest selection by far, although I have never been their. You might want to try Hudson Trail Outfitters in Fairfax if you don't want to drive that far, and they have a pretty descent selection. Also you can check out Annapolis canoe and kayak, and Backyard boats in Annapolis. They are pretty much right next door to each other. These places are great because they are both right on the water an you can demo their boats right their. Backyard boats is strictly a Hobie dealer and you can demo their boats for free. Annapolis Canoe and kayak charges something like $20 to demo 2 boats, but if you buy one from them they take it out of the price. It is definitely worth doing a demo to figure out what you like. I don't know about using a Stealth 12 for 2 people, even if it is a small child. You might want to take a look at the Native Ultimate 14, you can set it up for 1 or 2 people.
