Let me know if you want to fish sleepy sometime in the spring. April-May have been good months for that lake. Always lots of numbers, but I don't catch alot of big fish. They are in there and I want to catch them this year . Prespawn last year we saw a few fish that were 3+ lbs. And Doug and I fished it at night in August last year and had some monster fish blowing up in Sawmill cove.

Definately give myself or Beard a shout. As he said, lake carries numbers, with big ones rarely caught. But the big ones are there. Lots of grass & standing timber in that lake.

Fished it a few times and as Beard said, it just holds smaller fish. Not alot of access points. Give us a shout about that one also.

The reason I asked about Back Creek is I came across some pictures of the water and some guys on kayaks, looked like good water. It isn't kayak water but are you familar with Bullskin or Evitts Runs? WVDNR says they stock trout there?

Bullskin & Evitts Run are two very, very small runs around Charles Town area that have the stocked trout. One of the two has a parking area beside a large farm that allows people to walk along the run and trout fish.

I second the west fork....suprised to even see it mentioned...it was an honorable mention in a wv game and fish as one of the states top musky fisheries...ive tangled wif a few in shallow water at close quarters while smallie fishin...they seem to get the best of me as i almost always use 6lb fluro.

Ive been fishing West fork since i was 12...been catchn footballs under the same trees and behind the same rocks for years....dont be scared to fish this stream right in the middle of town...caught 18inch plus fish while standing beside a rusty shoping cart ;) hell my presso hagans combo was put together to throw 1/32nd ounce gitzits in this river....I like using lighter jigs wif a smaller hook for less snags and less throw offs...spinning rigs would end up wif to much line twist...also i think not having a roller and bail in between me and my jig gives me a lil edge for a light take.

Can even catch monster sauger and trout below the worthinton dam, not to mention white bass and giant flatheads.

Theres been talk of dam removal...funny thing is recreation groups r against it...i personaly think it would make the westfork one of the best smallmouth fisheries in the state. dam removal would increase current and lessn sediment (muddy water) Ive noticed theres less sauger and more largies the last couple years.

I make a couple out of town trips every year and have yet had a trip where i didnt think if i just stayed here and spent all day on West fork id done better! :D

Both small streams that you can walk the bank and fish but that is it. If you want to fish for trout out of a yak then the Opequon is your creek. Plus when it starts to warm up you can catch smallies and trout at the same time. I think they stock it every week March-May.

I need to check your Opequon out, maybe during the kids spring break. If we get the chance on any of them I will be sure to let you two know. FYI I took my wife to the Bavarian Inn for our anniversary and checked out the Pot-a-mac up there. Nice.

Let me know if you want to hit the Opequon as I have a perfect spot to put in. And the Bavarian Inn and the area around is great. I went to school at Shepherd right across the road.
