Booyah! new personal best spot

Postby LowHybred09 » Fri Mar 09, 2012 8:41 pm

Rachael and I had to fish two different rivers today just for one fish each but we made it count. Our normal flow was way up and brown so we tried some largemouth water with no luck. I got one jack fish and Rachael caught a small largemouth on her jerkbait. Got the jack on a spinnerbait. The fish weren't up this flow so we went back to our normal place and tried despite the terrible conditions. The level was 6/10th of a foot higher than the max we like to fish and that little extra had the river crazy high and brown. I had one bite. We parked on the top of a shoal and turned to fish upriver. I tossed a clown colored suspending super rogue out and began working it back to the shoal when it felt like I hung up on a rock. I was in the middle of complaining about how they weren't bitting here either and the rod starts shaking. So I set the hook and thus began the chaos. I was standing in my yak at the top of a shoal with water pouring over it so fast this monster bass was about to be sucked down river and I had him on light flourocarbon so I couldn't horse it in. Rachael had the net but was too far for me to reach and she was getting sucked downriver past me. She threw the net about 10ft to me and I caught it, turned the handle and pulled this big mama into the net. Then came the hollering. :) my new personal best river spot at 4lb 4oz. She was slap full of eggs and released unharmed and swam off with a bunch of energy. Makes you feel good.

Dude, when I saw the post title and who had written it, I thought "this is gonna be good!" and I wasn't dissappointed. What a fat, spotted slut! WTG, and I am glad Smiley isn't getting all the spotlight for a change! Matt
