WTB: first kayak...anyone selling?

Postby scottprice » Fri Mar 16, 2012 10:47 am

hey guys.
Im looking for my first kayak. I am 5'11" and 188 pounds and i plan on using the kayak in lakes probly 85% of the time, a few other those lakes being quite large, one is 5400 acres. About 10% of my time will be in rivers like the Delaware Susquehanna and Lehigh....and the remaining 5% will be in the bays and along the beach in NJ/MD/DE...maybe venture a mile out for sharks, but nowhere further out than that

Ill be fishing out of the kayak for the most part, so i either need an angler version, or a kayak that can be converted to an angler....

I have about $500 to spend (a bit tight since im in college)...is anyone selling a package for arond there? If not can you suggest some good kayaks for my applications? I dont mind used

I would look for a used Ride 135, 2011 or older.

How would we have known that? ;)

Not to sound like a jerk, but you have to remember that this is an international forum, so we have folks all over the place.

Might I recommend that you look in our Bassifieds first, then check Craigslist and the local classifieds.

I did look in the BASSifieds...everything is too far, too expensive or already sold. This thread was more to get advice on what some good kayaks are for my needs and where I can find one.....and maybe I'll get lucky and have someone fairly local selling one

I don't know where you are in PA, but check local outfitters; they may have some older models. Blue Mountain Oufitters in Marysville is selling last years model of Ride 135 for $809 (yes I know that's over your max---it's an example).. You might also find some used models from the last couple of years that had been rentals.

At your height and weight, a Perception Pescador (2008 Tarpon mold from what I've read here.) would be a good deal--and those are around $500.
