Walking sucks!!

Postby airbornemike » Sat Mar 31, 2012 11:17 pm

For the first time this season I wade and walked a favorite small stream in my area. I have to say, since buying my first kayak and almost allways fishing out of it, I now hate walk and wades .
Poison Ivy, angry land owners, other "anglers" I cant simply float on by, the list gows longer the more I paddle. Anyone else give up wading and walking?

Actually, I walk and wade more! I have mostly been a wade angler my whole life, and I find my floating piece of plastic allows me to expand my wade angling! Although I fish mostly out of the yak, I love to get out and wade fish sections of the river whenever the opportunity presents itself. Nothing puts me more in-tune with the spirit of the Susky's flowing water than to get out and stumble, slip, and trip on it's riverbed! :D Matt

Yeah... F that walking crap.

Actually, I still just grab two rods and a small bit of tackle and go for SHORT walks along the bank now and then... but its mostly just to get my fix in when time is very short or other things dictate that I cant have my kayak. I would prefer to have my kayak involved, but if I cant, I cant. But I can guarantee you I'm not walking any kind of distance... I do enough of that at work.

I've basically given up wading since I've had the kayak. You can cover more water & not have to get out, climb banks & bypass deep pools.

But I still will get out to "spot" wade during low water summer conditions & fishing a few smaller streams I do

I was thinking the same thing as I waded and hiked looking for trout with my buddy this afternoon. Pretty much I wished I was in a kayak the whole time I was out fishing today. Also wished I was chasing smallies instead of wasting my time with the newly stocked trout that wouldn't take anything.

Gggrrrrrrr.

I've been editing video recently and realize that this kind of goes full circle. I was out of the cataraft for more of my catches than in it. That being said, I wouldn't have been in those spots without something that floats me over to them.

Plus my attention wanders too much to stay in my boat the whole time.

Tonight is the first time I noticed it was WHISKER! That makes so much more sense I've been thinking for a year, "man. I like bourbon, but this guy REALLY likes it!" I've even told friends of mine, "hey, did you see that post the Whiskey Wrangler made?"...Yeah I've even been trying to rationalize it... I thought maybe your job was to transport the casks around the distillery or something. -knobcreekman
