Conocheague Float with my daughter

Postby gkreps » Fri Apr 06, 2012 10:35 pm

My daughter (Sami) was bugging me all week if we could go fishing today since they were out of school for Easter break. I gave in ;) and said sure why not. So we loaded up the gear and headed fro the Conocheague Creek here in Maryland. I asked her if she wanted a long float or a short one, she said a short one. I knew the exact spot to put in and take out. We got on the water around noon.

we floated thru a couple holes while trying to teach her what to look for with the cover and where to cast. The water level was up a little and moving faster than what it would be during the summer months. We decided to take a break on the bank and have a little lunch. She had fixed a couple sandwiches and a few snacks for us.

After our shore lunch it was time to push off and get back to fishing. We picked apart a couple more holes with no sucess. She said she was getting tired and was ready to leave. I told her one more cast and BAAM !! this pig grabbed my grub and tried to run off with it.

We decided to head out so I gave my wife a call and told her to come pick us up at our meeting spot. It was a beautiful day, 60 degrees not a cloud in the sky and time on the water with my daughter.

Was this the first trip of the year? Looked like a great day! I have to wait a few years before my son, Tyler can go on trips like that...
But I cant wait!!

Sharing time on the water with the family is always special regardless of whether you're catching or not. Nicely done dad!!

Very cool. Nothing like some quality father-daughter time, specially if there are kayaks and bass involved.

Thanks for all the kind words, I really enjoy the time I can spend with my son and daughter. I'm loosing my son to the girlfriend thing  but my daughter has really taken an interest in hunting and fishing.
