Howdy from Houston....I was recently given the suggestion to sign up here by a fellow member of another boating group.
What prompted his idea was my announcement, on that site, that I just bought and slimed my 20th?? something boat this week.
The yak is a 10 foot ( don't laugh, please) MANTA yak. Not a Manta Ray, which would be more understandable. She is a tandem 10; 36 inches in width; and rated for 500 lbs. Many would call it a "toy yak" but so far, she is doing the job very well.
I'm a full figured guy ( Ha Ha!! weighing 250 lbs) and finding something that I could easily move around; be very stable.....and...... would also hold my weight was a problem. The ability to put the yak INTO my van, rather than on the roof, made this 72 yr old guy happy!
Prior to this little yak, I've owned 20 or more boats, ranging from a couple of 27 ft Catalina sailboats to the other current parts of the fleet...a 16 ft Carolina Skiff and a 16 ft Lowe 160W. I keep them 1,200 miles apart, so that they don't get mad at one another!
The other night, I slimed the MANTA in a local pond. Four trips so far and this little baby has been successful on three of them. She's brought over twenty LM bass, one nearly 3 lbs, to her side so far. I like it!
Anyhow, just wanted say Hi. regards, rich
