Play Nice and take the High Road

Postby Yakittyak » Thu Apr 26, 2012 12:27 pm

There were many qualities that attracted me to this site. The qualities that made me stay were the inclusiveness and maturity demonstrated by the individuals that call this place home. Lately I am sensing a departure from these qualities and a more frequent exhibition of less than desirable behavior. The popularity of this site will continue to attracts individuals with differing standards of conduct and etiquette. If we engage these individuals they will stay and their decisiveness will pollute our ranks and detract from the quality of this site. If we ignore their provocations they will become bored and find amusement elsewhere. Please, consider your response before posting and keep the communication positive. Sometimes not taking the bait is the best course of action.
Thanks, Mike

It's just cabin fever, it will slow down once everyone can get out fishing more often :D :D

I'm in another club besides this one and you should see that site! It's complete high school drama. It's a shame too because that club has many great members aboard but the ones who spoil it really seem childish. I've actually enjoyed this site 100 fold over that one and basically have pitched my tent and moved here for good. I find everyone to be helpful and nice on KBF and a big thank you to all who go the extra mile. It's much appreciated. :)

I've surfed many boards and KBF has the highest standard of posters I've come across.

I've seen many posts that on other boards would have turned ugly, but on KBF the threads stay civil. It's interesting to get a lively conversation going that's doesn't get ugly. After all, sharing is what KF is all about; and sharing opinions on certain issues allows each of us to add parameters to our reasoning. One thread refered to KBF posters as a cult; but I tend to think of the posters as more of a brother hood (and sister hood for you ladies) who share not only their fishing, but their lives.

Sure, you'll have the occational snap, but keep in mind you never know what someone's going through when they post. I've seen the nicest guys in the world turn into total jerks - then later found out there was external reasons (health, job loss, family loss, etc) that caused their harsh attitude.

And the moderators do a good job of keeping posters on a leash - like a retractable dog leash, allow some to run a little further before hitting the button and letting out any more line.
