I am still struggling to get my rod situation in hand for largemouth bass fishing.
I use to carry ten when I had a big bass boat, that is not possible in a kayak.
I do try to bring rods based on the season and conditions but I can't seem to get below five.
This is my normal set up but tell me about yours. I would like to get down to three if possible.
Rod #1- Long heavy for Carolina rigs and throwing/pitching a jig.
Rod #2 medium 6' for crankbaits
Rod #3 Shorter handle for spinnerbaits buzzbaits
Rod #4 Lighter 6' for topwater,jerkbaits,trick worms,flukes.
Rod #5 spinning rod for shakey head worms, drop shot, texas rig finess worms

We all know we dont NEED all the stuff we bring but I dont see any issue with 5. I've been taking 4. I want to get it to 3 but I have commitment issues.

sounds like a good plan of attack you have so far...
I normally use:
-6'8" M moderate-fast casting rod (covers deep cranks, spinnerbaits, and also excellent topwater rod)
-6'8" L fast casting rod (tiny cranks, tiny plastics, tiny everything)
-6' UL moderate-fast (fun rod, grubs, inline spinners)
-4'6" UL- very slow action (grandpas old rod...gotta bring it)
I usually dont bring anything heavier then a medium powered rod for bass or any freshwater fish. However, I am planning on a nice heavy rod for fishin the nasty thick stuff this year. (If I ever go bass fishing....inshore has taken over here recently)

I usually carry four or five rods with me. 2 baitcasters and the rest spinning reels. I like having multiple reels ready to go.

Normally 3 or 4 but if it's new water 6.

I take a toad rod and a frog rod with me when bass fishing. If I am not throwing one of those 2 baits, I may as well be in the saltwater.

So what is the difference between a toad and a frog and the associated rods?
and yes i am talking about the artificials, not the real thing
