Armed Forces Day! 5/19/2012

Postby vakayakangler » Thu May 17, 2012 12:28 pm

Many of the Members here on KBF have either served or are serving. We are proud of our military members... and love you all.... Saturday is Armed Forces Day... which is one of the reasons that Luther at YakAttack chose that day way back when to set it as HIS Charity Tourney Day..... his way of giving back.

Dig thru your photos guys and let's see a few pics of YOUR time in service.... from Boot Camp to time on ship, to time overseas, all I ask is that you remember this is a FAMILY friendly site! So keep the overseas pics G rated  Let's save server space for chad and those of us who have them, link the pics from our image sites, like photobucket.

Come on, I know ya'll are out there, let's see um....
Here's one of mine, a lotta years and about 100 pounds ago.

I'll get ya'll started. In 1978 we did a joint op with the army and supported them with our helo's, this was taken at Ranger School at Camp Merrill outside of Atlanta, we called the Det - Mosby. We got to operate at their base, they got to fast rope out of the helos.

Awesome Jim - I'll see if I can find the pic of my unit in the big "sandbox" from '90 when I get home.

Here is my team at Bagram Air Field in Afghanistan waiting to go on a four day R and R after over a year in country.

Here I am with my team of local nationals. These guys were top notch and hard workers.

Before I was a medic taking a CLS (combat life saver) class in Afghanistan. This is the my first IV I've ever placed. my buddy was terrified being my first victim. But, I got a lot better.

Tonight is the first time I noticed it was WHISKER! That makes so much more sense I've been thinking for a year, "man. I like bourbon, but this guy REALLY likes it!" I've even told friends of mine, "hey, did you see that post the Whiskey Wrangler made?"...Yeah I've even been trying to rationalize it... I thought maybe your job was to transport the casks around the distillery or something. -knobcreekman

Maybe this pic gets a bit more respect, flying patrol duty over the "Line of Death" off the coast of Lybia in '81... I think it was...

The only thing that's changed since those last two pics is I've decided to do some work to get the excess weight off before I get too old to care. I was about 190-195 in those pics and now I'm down to 180.

Thank you to all my fellow brothers (and sisters) in arms, from those who've given everything to those who provided support in what ever way we were ordered to do so.
