Went to a friends pond that is pretty good for catching 3-5 lb bass. Started fishing just after 8, and sun was gone by 8:45, so we fished in the dark for most of the night. Had a few hits on a kermy frog then switched to a buzz bait, and had several hits on that. All my hits were in real shallow, and were quick strikes. Nothing really blew up the surface. It was more of a reaction strike, like the fish were trying to scare the lure away. this pond has some good 5 lbs catfish in it to and i could not even get a bite from shore on the stink bait pole. My buddy did catch a few small sized large mouths using a rooster tail.
Best part of the night though was when I came in and let him out in the yak. No fish were caught from it but i think he got hooked cause when he came in to switch again i asked him what he thought of it. AND. " well i think my wife is not gonna like you very much when i tell her i wanna spend money and get me one." I would say he got hooked, landed, and when he tells her that he will be cooked. Lol. Anyways now i have a new P.B. a 160 lbs human.........he is already looking to getting off work friday morning and getting on the water again.

I forgot, i did have one hookup, he went deep and kayak started to turn. I got excited and then here comes my buzz bait flying at mt head. Not sure if i gave it some slack for a second to cause that or if was just so excited about having a fish on i forgot to set the hook good...memory serves me right i was hooting and hollering as yak made a quarter turn in water as fish ran. Was just over excited about getting my first one into a yak...guess that will wait till friday.

Glad you got another guy interested in kayak fishing. It's a complete blast.
Sounds like a fun night with some topwater action
