Funny thing is, this could work out to be a blessing. If you get the whole family involved, your vacations could be things of beauty, and cheaper than you ever imagined. A vacation to a state park that offers fishing is much cheaper than a vacation to Disneyland, BuschGardens or any of the other "theme" parks, and much more memorable. Even renting a nice cabin at the park with lake access, home cooked meals and early morning and late evening fishing on the lakes and / or rivers in the nations parks, ... still cheaper.

Virginia even has several beautiful parks on the ocean with beach access and free launch for those staying in the parks. (First Landing State Park is one of our favs, and we traditionally stayed a week each summer until my health started to fail... a week fishing in VA beach with a private cabin, for less than three nights in a hotel...) :P

The largest cost in kayak fishing is the initial setups, then you just have your annual licenses and some new plastics now and then.. :P

That's pretty awesome Rick. Spending time in the outdoors with family is just the best.

Jim, you're really not helping!

I went through this before with Cowboy Action Shooting: three complete sets of guns, three sets of leather, AND THEN we get into clothes & hats.

Just wish I could get my youngest involved in outdoor stuff (she's 14).

I do look forward to it.

My wife and daughter went back to the lake yesterday and my wife caught another LMB. This is really upsetting our daughter as she is not even getting a nibble. Our daughter was also having problems with her line twisting and getting tangles (it's whatever line came on the combo package). I told her I would buy some good line and re-spool it for her this weekend.

The wife doesn't really know what she's doing so she can't explain it to our daughter. And I can't help, either.

My wife is headed back to the lake today with my sister & brother-in-law. He fishes quite a bit so maybe she will be able to learn a few things to share with our daughter.

HOW bout this:

Miss T is the fisherman in the family... she spanks me and most everyone else whenever we go out.. :) I catch bait compared to her fish and this is a sport where gender doesn't matter. :?
Age doesn't matter and wives and daughters can spank daddy on every trip if they are good!

How's that for helpin?

(also true... :( )
