Glad to see a positive outcome came of this for you, Adam. When my BSR852 tip broke, I wasn't very chipper. Utterly pissed would be a great assessment of my mood. But I sent it back ($3 Shipping through my work) and had a new one on my door step in a week.

Well while were on GLoomis feel good stories...I found a Loomis Greenwater spinning rod about 10 years ago. Was at a kayak fishing tournament on the west coast of Florida that got cancelled due to an approaching hurricane. I decided to stay the next day and fish the first round of feeder bands. It was quite nice until it hit. Noticed a lot of frantic activity at the boat ramp as I was paddling in...boats loading up and flying out of there. Finally made it to ramp in gale force winds and noticed the rod right in the middle of the parking lot...minus 4 inches of its normal 8'2" length. Struck me as strange that it would be in the middle of ramp, no reel, no sign of missing tip.

Posted on west coast kayaking forum about the find and never had anyone contact me. I hated the rod...rated to 25 or 30 lbs can't remember, heavy power, felt like a lead broom stick, and with sawed off tip. Took it in to a tackle shop to get a new tip put on it, figured I'd use it to troll live bait out of the kayak offshore. Owner of shop tells me I don't need a new tip, I need a new rod. I tell him the story about it and he says, "So what, not a problem" tells me $25 shipping and handling, he will take care of everything. Now he has put me on the spot...do I invest the $25 in a rod I don't want? I hate the puke green color of it, the extra foot long of rod sticking out my kayak, and the stiffness of it. OK, I'll do it IF you can get it for me in a lighter action...Damn I love that replacement G.Loomis rod. Got it in medium action and love it. I even like the extra length now.

I like it so much that I got another GLoomis rod with one of the earlier challenge prizes...I like my new one better because unlike the puke green replacement, this one's a beauty.
