Thanks for the complements everyone. Rob you did great this year and set the bar high for us next year. Big Bass at the first tourney. 1st and the second tourney, and second place at the third. You certainly deserve AOY.
You know here's the thing. There are so many awesome fisherpeople fishing the NTKT seris there just isn't any telling whose going to take the trophy. I was blessed to have a descent day and to find a pattern that worked. I started out shallow for the morning shad bite but didn't connect on many quality bass.
About 10:00 I tried to convince myself that the sun was up and bright and the bass should have went deeper. WRONG... it was all about shallow wind blown points that had boulders yesterday...The wind was really weird. It would blow for awhile then lay for awhile. When it did pick up the mirage drive gave me a ace in the whole to be able to stick myself on a wind blown point and fish. I fished deeper water 10-25' a lot thinking the bass would be down there. They seemed to be suspending on the first 5-8' drop staging to hit the shallows when the wind would pick up. I tried fishing everything on and around that drop but they wouldn't hit anything consistently. This was one of these days where you throw EVERYTHING in your milkcrate.
It was crazy how many lures I went through. The wacky rigged weightless fluke did great for awhile as did the road runner for a couple smaller bass.
But the hit of the day was given to me by Chuck while I was up in Virginia visiting for Luther's tournament. (by the way THANKS Chuck).
It was Jeff Little's Draggin' Head with a Bird. What a great lure!!! It proved to me it's worth yesterday and I'll be placing a order soon.
Thanks to all that showed up to the tournaments this year. I'm hoping next year we can get some sponsors and grow this to a even larger series.
Thanks,
Shaun
