Greg wanted to try the infamous Snook Islands and since it is an easy drive for me, I agreed. I caught a snook the last time I was here but this time not so much. We were able to find bait but no fish under them.
This trip featured sketchy put in and take outs, aerobic activity, glassy smooth water, easy paddling, a dinosaur, a suspicious duo on a tandem, and procreation (not the same duo).
The only catching we did was a little cuda I caught and a monster mangrove snapper for the Lt. We got on the water at about high tide and fished casually waiting for the tide to start moving out. During the time we were out, the water dropped quite a bit but the water never really got moving. I suspect it was because we had a wind against the current. Made paddling back to the ramp nice but didnt help create those ambush points. This area can have snook and I've seen a tarpon and a really big cuda but not a high number of fish. It really seems to require good water movement to get these predator fish active.
We threw topwater, DOA shrimp,CAL tails and Baitbusters. Heck, someone even thew some Gulp.
This is the newly built kayak launch area. You only get to use this after you have walked the 2.7 miles from where you have to park your car. Well, maybe it's not that far but it's not close. Anyway, launch looks like a cool idea but a little harder to use than we first anticipated. I wouldn't use the word "graceful" to describe that experience.

Good looking boat.

Snapper hunter.

Fishing the docks.

Prehistoric creature.
