A new member for the CVHOW Team

Postby vakayakangler » Thu Jul 12, 2012 4:42 am

Sometimes you take a step back and look at what you need to do to make things work a little better, run a little smoother and perhaps you decide you need to make some changes. Yeah, she was beautiful and sexy and no matter where I went everyone always wanted to come up and get a closer look but it was time for her to go. :? The Team comes first, and my simple pleasures take a back seat to the needs of the team, right? Sigh... right. :( I'll kinda miss 'er, but....
A wise man once said:
"The needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the one."

Image
She was sleek and beautiful and attracted a lot of attention, but far too much for me... low and powerful, she needed a younger man to keep up with her.

The decision was all mine, but Miss T had given it her blessing. That black Charger had been a gift of sorts for my retirement, replacing my 09 Frontier since we had the Titan. As the Chapter grew, we realized that we actually could still have used the second truck, we had two trailers and on more than one occasion we found we needed it. :P A good thing, but ONE truck.

Good bye Charger, I'll miss the attention and 300hp, but I have always been a pickup guy at heart, at least this last few years.

Welcome our newest team member, the 2012 Frontier - I took a little beating on the trade, but not too bad, after all, folks were trying to buy the Charger while I was talking to the salesman about the trade.

Image
I chose the new 2012 Frontier 4x4 in the base model for the towing ability, but didn't get the luxy interior of a higher model as I never use all the goodies inside. What's an MP3 anyway?

Image
It may not be the Dodge Charger, but with 261hp, the Frontier will easily tow the Yakima trailer and five or six yaks. The 4x4 package will make sure the old dude will get where we need to go and with pretty good mileage.

Image
The spray in bedliner is a must as we will USE the truck, and it will see both fresh and saltwater use most likely. Premium One did a great job.

After closing the deal on this base model 4x4, I starting planning the few upgrades we would make.

Side Step Rails came first, purchased at cost from the dealer to protect the rocker panels and make it easier for Broken Ol' Marines to get in and out. ;)

The Spray in bedliner was done yesterday by:

Premium One has been a supporter of CVHOW since day one, doing whatever they could to help us out. We have been buying from Miss Nancy and the Premium One gang for a decade or more, and have never had a complaint about the prices or the quality of the work..

I have the bully bar and fog lights coming... something that will look cool, but is actually needed in this part of the state. Those who have been to our place know that if you had to describe the drive, the thing you hear the most is: drive to the end of the world, turn left. Boonies? See Jim and Miss T's place.   I think vehicles take as many deer as hunters around here.

I'll miss the Charger a little, but the truck makes more sense, and will certainly be of much more value to the chapter. It'll be easier for this old Marine to get in and out of as well.

Semper fi..

I'm sure it didn't take too long to get the HOW sticker on there. :D - nice looking ride and I guess this will keep you from having to shuttle HOW kayaks back and forth to your house....also good thing Mrs. T isn't worried about keeping young, sleek, fast and sexy things around....I'm talking about the Charger, of course.

It took that long!?!? I thought it would have been before test driving the truck . But glad you got yourself a truck, for some reason I couldn't see you driving that charger around.

Very noble thing to do Jim, as the Charger was a sharp looking car!

Hope you put it to good use soon :D

We have an event at Sandy River this weekend, it's going to be hauling the small trailer since we won't need the big one. Save some Gas Money!
