Here's a real review from a friend of mine, instead of some whack job that posts on BPS reviews. Seriously, it's ONLY whackos there. For entertainment purposes only, like the personals on craigslist, lol.

That new drag does not look as easy to adjust while fighting a fish as the normal star drag, I can adjust it on the fly very easily. Which sometimes occurs when fishing for spot and you hook into a 15 plus striper

EVERY reel has plastic parts somewhere. It has NOTHING to do with cheap, in many cases. For instance, it's better to have the idler gear that drives the worm drive to be plastic. That way if the drag is set too high, a $5 idler fails, instead of the main gear, pinion, yoke, yoke posts, and god knows what other parts will fail. Yes, it happens.

IMO those reviews are useless as well.Almost all reels are smooth and cast well straight out of the box.Fish with one 20-30 hours a week for a year in real life conditions and see how long they last.Im not gonna spend 150 bucks or more for a reel that has to be cleaned and lubed after every outing to keep it working well .

I do feel like alot of those reviews on bps and such are mostly a products competitors that do their best to trash a product no matter how well it is.

I think we all just decided is the best review is our own personal experience. No agendas involved when I actually use the reel and use it for myself.

Well, the only test is to go hook that bad boy up to some river stripers. I loved my Calcutta B, so lets hope the D lives up. I just wish it was made at the $249 price point as I have absolutely desire to drop $330.

Now that's good stuff. You see this with every sport or hobby - companies change an existing product or come out with a new one. Folks rush out to buy one or, much more commonly these days, read about it online and then start wringing their hands over it. It's not as good; they used cheap parts; i don't like the new design. Most often, we were perfectly content with what we had until the new thing came out. I can never quite tell if the fussing over new stuff is sour grapes or our perverse need to convince everyone else that what we like is better anyway and why don't they understand that. Find something you like; enjoy it; and then say, "I could not be happier with my choice." That's happiness.
