Greetings from the Lone Star State

Postby JPChavez » Mon Mar 01, 2010 2:53 am

Being new here, I guess the polite thing to do would be to introduce myself before I start participating in the forums and challenges.

My name is Jeremy and I reside in central Texas. I'm currently in graduate student at Texas State University working towards a master’s degree. My major is bean counting (accounting) :D and this spring semester should be my final semester in school.

My fishing conquests take me all over the state, especially up and down the entire coastline. Tackle-wise I use just about any type or technique that’s most advantageous to catching the intended species that I’m targeting including baitcast, spinning, and fly.

I’m a tackle junkie, which I’m sure there are lots of y’all (in my best Texan accent) that can relate, so I try to be as versatile as I possibly can be without limiting myself to one particular style of fishing. At least that is my excuse for accumulating the amount tackle that I currently own.

My favorite style and targeted species is chasing red drum, aka the redfish, on the shallow water flats and backwater marshes with artificial lures. My saltwater to freshwater fishing ratio is 2:1, but don’t let the numbers fool you, if there’s water I can usually scrounge up a bite or two.

I heard about the forum and challenges from a friend through the grapevine. I have been browsing the website for a couple of weeks and from the look of things, everything seems very well-run. I’m looking forward to posting and competing with my fellow kayak anglers.

welcome, two of our kids and their families live in TX, my son and his wife who is a doc; a little east of Dallas. My daughter is in north TX in Wichata Falls with her active duty AF hubby who is teaching the little AF pups how to work on buffs..

You'll like it here, lot's to learn, good place to share... but I warn you. It's the psycho ward.

Welcome to KBF! I love fishing in Texas, I am originally from Louisiana, but my dad was in the oil field so I spent a great deal of time in Texas and I have also been stationed there twice during my naval career. Looking forward to seeing what you put up.............So far Texas hasn't lived up to the everything's bigger mantra (except for Steve G)!!!!!! (Okay, and double dip! Him, not the fish he catches)
