UPGRADES UPDATE!!!!!

Postby jfrancho » Thu Aug 27, 2009 10:01 pm

Is your reel squeaky?

Doesn't cast like it used to?

Tired of sticky drags?

Did you know that often times a simple cleaning, with removal of old, spent grease and oil and a lube with fresh, quality grease and oil will often bring a used reel to better than factory specs?

How about that a yearly super clean and lube job will help your reel last many more years?

Reels are mechanical devices, and just like a car, need regular maintenance.

Take a look at this reel:

Image

Do you think this reel is working at peak performance?

What about now, after a complete tear down, degreasing, and reassembly and lube?

I run Reel Smooth Reels, and we offer Clean & Lube service to bring your reels to tip top shape.

Baitcasters $20
Spinning reels $25
Add in a Smooth Drag Carbontex washer upgrade for $10
(only available for certain models)

Want a Super Tune? Let know what you expect from your reel, and we'll let you know what we can do.

We use only the highest quality oils and grease. We carry most brands, so if you have a preference, just let us know.

Some brands we use and trust: Rocket Fuel, Smooth Drags, Boca Bearings, Hot Sauce, Reel Butter, Shimano Star Drag Grease, Cal's Grease, ReelX, Reel Mechanic Grease and Oil, ZPI, I'ZE, Bassart, Megabass and others.

If your reel is in warranty, we strongly recommend you have broken reels repaired by the main US service center, not an "authorized" service center. We can put you in touch with them, if needed. If its out of warranty, we can source most parts for current or recent production reels.

We accept all brands, even private label/store brands. Pflueger, Quantum, Pinnacle, Abu Garcia, Daiwa, Shimano, Ardent, Okuma. We even accept JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) reels, in fact, its a specialty.

Just PM me for details. All orders are well documented, and no work is done without your approval.

We stand behind our work.

My rates are:
The leaves are dropping, soon it will be winter, and time to service your gear!

My rates are:
Baitcasters $20
Spinning reels $25
Add in a Smooth Drag Carbontex washer upgrade for $10
(only available for certain models)
Carbontex drag upgrade, w/o clean (new or clean reel) is $20.
Repairs are cleaning + cost of parts + additional labor (99% not necessary) + shipping.

I'll call before I do anything, and get approval for work.
Bearing upgrades vary by model, but are usually $20 + cost of bearings.
The same goes for handle upgrade, cork knobs, and other high end swaps.
Super tune varies, but runs $25 to $150 + cost of any parts.

Just send me a PM, with the reel model#, what you want done, and I'll give you a quote and shipping instructions.

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!

Right now, Boca Bearings is running a Holiday Special on their top line reel bearings. Boca Orange Seal Ceramic ABEC7 bearings are on sale for just $15.95!!!!

Sometimes less.

Of course, I pass these savings on to you.

For example, I was able to upgrade a spent bearing in a customer's reel for just $11. This bearing is normally around $28. It generally only takes two spool bearings on baitcasters to bring them to super caster status. Great for free spool applications like pitching, or distance applications like crankbaiting.

If you have a late model reel, and want to turn it into a super caster, let me know. I'll install the bearings along with a regular super clean service for free!

PM if interested!

Throw her in the lake, and have you buy a new reel!!! :o

Kidding. In general, a power clean and fresh lube brings most reels to better than factory spec. Revos of all flavors (S, SX, STX, Premier) all respond well to a good cleaning. The OE silicone based lubes aren't that great. Since they already have a carbon fiber, dry drag system, the next phase is spool bearings. As I said, they are best for special apps, like pitching, light baits, or distance casting.

How did you know I have one sitting on the bottom of a local pond with my new Kistler Helium and brandy new Tru Tungsten swimbait, I went out a couple times to try and find her bbut no luck. If I do find her in the spring you'll have her on your step someday to perform some "reel" magic.
