fishing texas in new areas POC area

Postby Reelshallow » Sun May 29, 2011 11:37 pm

I fished from 5/25 to 5/ 28. I took king o dinks out Fishing We fished several new areas. Day 1 we launched out of fishing center in Port Oconner fished upper bay with much success. We managed to have some fun with some very large skip jacks early. I think the biggest one i caught was close to 30 plus inches. As the tide went slack so did bait and bite. Did some exploring and Pointed Danny into the right direction . We drifted near a reef I told him he will start picking up red soon And these are some photos of that

Later action did pic up as tide did. We paddled into a channel as tide started moving and noticed off a point piggy perch flipping out of the water backwards as it progressed into a full out trout frenzy it lasted a entire 20 minutes . I land4 trout in that time 2 keepers. It was a great adventure this day new area and a bonus of catching some fish. I am truely blessed to get to do this.
Day2. Didnt work out so well for me. But we put in at boggy bayou drifted back lake to Danny spanking me with 3 fish caught before we even hit the mouth to the bay. Well i was determined at this point! So with a 25 mph south wind i drifted nearly 2 miles up the outter bayside shoreline for a couple of these photos
I would like to add something. As i was out of town fishing doing my thing. I had grabbed dinner after fishing the second day and met up with some fisherman that had ran into some bad luck. They had came down to the coast from austin texas. Todo some kayak fishing as they have done before many times. They put in at an area that was new to them. As we all do park the truck as we get there grab your gear and go. Well for these to guys, They ended there trip by paddling back to the boat ramp near where they parked there truck. As they got it in site it was just in time to watch it drive off. Yes the truck was stolen. How helpless can you feel at this point. Paddling to get back as it drives off.... When i heard this i couldnt do anything but ask how can i help. So Troy the owner of the truck mentioned well somehow he and his buddy Ken need to get back to austin. Well being from Austin, i said well " if there is a will there is a way"... so i gave Troy my number and told him to give me a call if would like my help. LAter that night RING RING...as i am in the hotel, troy on the other line. Let me just mention i did not know these guys from ADAM. But seem like Some great guys that had bad luck. Well we met up that night had a few cocktails and actually I planned to take one of them fishing next morning half day... Well early morning came and wind was howling as i crawled out of bed from tyhe night before. I got to take troy out fly fishing we didnt stay out long , but long enough for me to catch a just barely undersize red and him a soild 18 inch trout on a fly popper that his buddy custom made. Heres picture of him and my truck as we had back to austin 3.5 hours away. My little truck was loaded down i tell ya
