Hello from MD

Postby acg_osprey » Fri Jun 08, 2012 10:19 pm

Howdy - just checkin in from 10 miles due south of the PA line.

Got tired of draggin' my knuckles from the shore so I've saved my pennies and I'm ready to spring on my first kayak.

I have a couple in mind but want to paddle them first. Can anyone in my general area, North Carroll County if you know MD, recommend some good paddle shops in the area where I can test some options before I spring.

Most interested in Ride 135 and Trident 13 so a shop that has WS and OK would be ideal.

BTW...this forum is amazing. So much good info!

Welcome to KBF!

Another Marylander here. Not sure if there is a good paddle shop that is close. Hopefully somebody can chime in with one that carries both of those yaks.

Welcome. I don't paddle either of those, so can't help you there :(

But give us a little background information on the type of water that you plan on paddling. We all have different kayaks that work well for different areas, which can help you get a few ideas.

And definitely paddle if possible

I'm smack dab between the Susky and the Potomac. I have ocean kayak experience from when I was younger, but don't see myself getting into the bay all that much. I'll predominantly be in the reservoirs for awhile working on paddling until I can get more comfortable knowing what I'm doing in either of the aforementioned rivers, but that would be the goal.
