Odds of government shutdown rise as parties snipe over falte

Looks like allot of non-essential federal workers may get some time off to fish pre spawn in a couple weeks.

If it happens, hollar!

Why do I have to be essential... :x (grumble grumble) :x

Tonight is the first time I noticed it was WHISKER! That makes so much more sense I've been thinking for a year, "man. I like bourbon, but this guy REALLY likes it!" I've even told friends of mine, "hey, did you see that post the Whiskey Wrangler made?"...Yeah I've even been trying to rationalize it... I thought maybe your job was to transport the casks around the distillery or something. -knobcreekman

I'm not essential, but I don't think there will be a Federal work stoppage. If there is, we will get compensated like they did in the 90's. But it will stink for my cash flow.

Will we?

I'm not sure.

This isn't New Gingrich on a mission with a woody time.

I think the American people will be in an uproar if we get furloughed and paid.

I tend to agree w/ Hookup.

That being said, a few days off wouldn't be too bad, a few weeks on the other hand... :(

The Federal payroll isn't the problem here folks. It's the social security albatross and medicare and the outrageous stimulus spending from last year. That, plus 3 wars now on-going and never ending. My salary isn't the reason that the country is broke.

If I want to take some days off to go fishing I'll do it and use my leave and get paid for it.

The business of politics stink.

Yeah but the public:
1) doesn't understand that and
2) won't accept a cut in benefits

[Start rant] All is have to say is this, if they are gonna stop paying federal employees then Congress the WhIte House and their staff shouldn't get paid either. Congressional retirement pension should be cut too. Say whatever you want about federal employees, but we didn't spend the $$ that got us into this mess and those that did should share in the sacrifice.[end Rant]

The fear of shutdown has my work in jeopardy (contractor to a Federal agency). A pro-active agency has reduce my contracts by 75%. A full fledge shut-down may end up with me having almost no work. Good thing I got a sugar momma.
