Fins Fishing = Power Pro clone?

Postby leo » Sat Mar 03, 2012 11:29 am

I was looking to try the new Power Pro slick but no one had exactly what I wanted online. I decided to order the Fins XS in 15 lb Coral/Orange from

http://www.finsfishing.com/

The line arrived here in two days. It looks and feels exactly like the Power Pro cousin, it is very slick and supple. I'd say it is closer to mono than it is to regular Power Pro as far as handling goes. The color is bright but not of the 'neon' type, it does not rub off like Stren or Spiderwire. It is completely silent going through the guides and it does not look like it would cut fingers, plastic and everything else that gets in the way like regular PP.

I would bet that the Fins Original PRT would be exactly like Power Pro Original.

Anyone ever used Fins lines?

Hmmm... I saw that stuff and almost picked it up because of the orange color. I think that I'll have to try it to now that someone I know has said it looks pretty good. ;)

Hate to break up the orgy, but to answer your orginal question I have used FINS and so has Jeff Little. Both of us got some in Feb of 2011 in Original Yellow and it behaves EXACTLY like the Original PP. If you ask me, it comes out of the same mill.
I would assume that the newer version would be just like SuperSlick.

You are welcome to join in.

Cool about the line, I thought it had to be the same stuff. Fins seems to have a wider selection of lines on their website compared to Power Pro....

I think FINS has been making line for various brands for a while now before they started branding and marketing their own.

That would be a little hard to do. ;)
But I'm certainly not against hitching a ride and bank fishing... Ill even bring my own rod.

Back to the subject at hand:
If this stuff is exactly like Power Pro AND comes in orange, then that solves a problem I was having... I really realllllly like PP, but I really reallllly like using orange line, so I was going to order some yellow PP and try and dye it orange by soaking it in red dye... but I was afraid I was going to ruin quite a bit of it in the process trying to get it right. So problem solved. 8-)
Thanks for bring this to light leo.
