What's the rule?

Postby lconn4 » Thu Mar 15, 2012 12:41 pm

I've been checking out "in the field" duck blinds lately. On some of my fishing trips I'll normally take a break and go get an upclose look at some of the more extravagant blinds when the fishing slows and recently wondered who if anyone owns a blind that is built on a public lake. Don't want to pizz anyone off but figured this would be the place to ask.

I grew up hunting and fishing in west Texas and the blinds we built for goose hunting were dug in the middle of huge wheat fields on private property. Are there any laws against entering a blind on a dry lake bed?

I didn't enter this one, other than paddling into and fishing inside of the boat garage.

I did enter the one below that was high and dry a few days ago before the rains came.

The last guy there even smoked my brand.

I don't know about Texas, but in Illinois the blind is public after the season. The permit holder must take down by a certain date. After that it is public structure which is enter at own risk, but fishing would be fine in and around. We would go and check out others to get ideas on ours. 8-)

Dang, those are sweet blinds. I've heard of several around here like those but I've never seen them. I hunt out of a boat most of the time, or post up in the cattails. You could take a heater, stove and stay in that thing all weekend.

Also, do not know about Texas, but in Wisconsin, there are no laws regarding leaving duck blinds up all year on public grounds. When I hike around the lake, I am able to see blinds up any time during the year.

Thought I'd put a few more up that I checked out earlier in the year.

This is probably the best built one I've come across. Rear boat parking view. Porch underneath main blind for pooches to hang out with trap door to let them jump up in.

Took refuge in this one on a windy day. View from it below.
