Tim's Jack!

Postby Ruffells » Sun Jul 08, 2012 6:08 pm

My dad caught this Jack the day after mine:

He caught it on 17# test line with a medium action carriot stix with a baitcaster. Took him almost 2 hours to land with that medium action rod  I do believe mine was bigger though!

He also caught this cobia the day before I caught my Jack:

He caught it with a extra heavy carrot stick with 20-30# braid and a baitcaster. Still took him about 10 mins with the heavy setup. We didn't keep him though (we should have! )

We didn't get to fish a whole lot on our trip but the time we got to fish was well worth it! We're hoping to come back down next month to go out with my brother that will be taking some time off from the navy for some kings (which is what we were trying to catch). Hope we get to! We both had a time or two where we missed what could have been kings though.
If you are more stubborn than a largemouth, then you'll catch more stubborn largemouth.

We can't let him get by with this, We need a vote, Who got the biggest fish. Take a look at his and mine and please vote. Dads or Daniels. (we know its Dads, lol)

Congrats to you both. I say a tie, and next time take something to measure them with, or scale for weight.

Nice jacks!

BTW, Cobia is probably one of the most delicious fish in the sea. Bring a cooler next time and keep that sucker! I know it sucks to cut a day of fishing "short" but coming back with fresh cobe steaks/fillets makes it worth it in my opinion!

My mouth is watering just thinking about fresh cobe, its been soooo long! :x
