First Walleye is a doozie! (non Kayak)

Postby mrdeuce » Fri Dec 02, 2011 2:54 pm

Some friends took me out for a walleye about a month ago, but I lost track of the pictures. but here they are. Weight was 6.8lbs. Caught on a bargain bin berkley frenzy. We were trolling and i actually had a backlash on my other reel when we saw my rod dive. I actually thought it was snagged as their was no action on the rod. so I untangled the other reels backlash first then started reeling only to finally feel some movement. For the record walleye is now my favorite fish to eat. I can not describe just how delicious it is. better then trout and most saltwater fish in my opinion. heres some pictures:

Nicely done! Walleye are a great tasting fish, probably one of the best tasting I've had!

Nice Walleye!

Apparently they don't survive nearly as well as bass after being released ( I am pretty sure walleye tournaments are NOT catch and release, they donate the fish at the end of the day) and they taste delicious: mild, white, and flaky yumness.

Nice walleye! I think the Berkley Frenzy is the same as the Flicker Shad. I love those things, trolled them in my kayak all summer for whatever hit.

Nice Walleye! They are probably the best tasting fish I've ever had. I think Ring Perch are right up there with them as far as tastiness.
