Im planning a trip to the New river around late September or early October dont really know much about it even though im only a couple hours away from it. I guess I just need to know what sections are best for kayak fishing in terms of safety and fishability and im also wondering if the flows are predictable enough to plan ahead because I plan on renting a cabin and dont wanna lose a deposit if they happen to be draining Claytor lake or somthing. Any info is appreciated thankyou.

I highly recommend getting a copy of Bruce Ingram's book, "the New River Guide".
He has broken down all of the segments into day trips, and talks about both fishing, and navigating, the New.
I live just 4 miles from Eggleston. I have only been in the area for about a year, but know the river pretty well from Whitethorne down to Bluff City. Feel free to pm with any specific questions.
