Crease Fly cutter/Winter project

Postby LONE STAR » Thu Jan 26, 2012 10:21 pm

I started with a 4" x 1/2" stainless steel strip.
A piece of pine and some two part epoxy.
The Dremel took care of the rest.

So what's the purpose of the piece of metal epoxied to the wood. Is that the before and after?

It works like a cookie cutter on the foam material.

Nice job of making the cookie cutter. Plus that is almost the exact pattern that I use on my Hula Dancer or I Spy tosome. :lol:
I seen some long scraper razor blade in the paint section at Lowes so will prolly grab one to play with. Plus with my son being a CNC machinist I may have something better then what I have been doing, No pictures tho but I habeen using a piece of chrome drain or fittings for smaller pattern. A take a couple blade and tape them to the outside and cut the shape and cut with scissors for the rest. Works fine but can be better. Those cutters you can buy but to expensive which is prolly why you built your own. 8-) More fun i'll say to. :)

I got a bunch of them flies I made a few years ago is neglected to a capital N!

They got plenty of great actions on the water. I think problem I had was I fish where there is so much darn weeds and such I kept hanging up so I will do them weedless next time around.

So you fold the piece of material you cut out into a popper shape and the body is hollow, right?

(sorry, I'm blonde)

@Phish..I used a stainless motor mount shim cut with aviator shears
then I made a small channel in the wood to hold extra epoxy.
This is the River Road Creations link..http://riverroadcreations.com/CreaseRelease.htm

@HookUp..I stuff extra foam in the mouth area to create more water
movement then I seal it all with a clear.

@PeterE..Please insert Blond joke here

I like it! I have made a few Crease Flies. They caught me some fish, but I think I preferred the bulky-bodied poppers more for bass. Like Phish, mine have been neglected in favor of other topwaters. Good pattern, though!
