You guys are all nuts. Is that what I will soon become? I already thought of all the cats i have that people seem to decide to put out at my house. Lots of different colored fur. Also lots of birds found, well feathers, found in the yard.

Last year they got my bluebirds. Blue jays are fine but leave my blue birds alone.

In a word, yes. You will begin to look at everything differently... you will see everything you look at as a potential tying material and be surprised at what works. Tina showed me an article yesterday where the main part of the fly came from old sponge hair rollers.
Coffee Stir Sticks from McDonalds? Tube Flies...
Thin Sheets of plastic Backing from Decals? Wings
Old Rubber Bands? Legs of all sorts
Kids broken bracelet? Eyes
It Never Stops

Tina has an entire room in the house that's the "tying room" I try and stay out. Yup, it's a crack habit that's legal and pays back. Sort of. You won't get arrested unless you go in a pet shop and yank a cockatoo feather, or two. (honest, wasn't me.)

Don't let it get you down though, it's legal, and Tina says finding stuff that works, it is half the fun.
