Air Temps: 44F
Water Temps: 34F
I was hoping the slightly warmer air temps (it was supposed to get to 50F yesterday) would have a positive effect on my fishing, it did not. I didn't catch anything but ended up being more of a scouting trip as this was my first time fishing the "Upper James". Pretty neat area, looks like it would be great to fish when the water is warmer. Found a couple of deep holes, 8ft deep with some good structure, even with the water a bit low. Some of the water in this area is pretty shallow, there are long stretches of riffles. There isn't a lot of "slow" water in this area either, paddling up stream was a bit of a chore. I even pulled in between 2 of the islands and dragged my yak through 2 inches of water to get around the rapids on the other side.
Fun day of scouting. I'll be back when the water is warmer. I have some pictures I'll pull of my camera when I'm home later tonight. There was an interesting item in about 3 feet of water at the launch, I'm assuming some KBF-er left it behind
