Welcome to KBF! I am a student at Tech, and am out there very often even when school is not in session. I fish the New River pretty frequently, mostly from peppers ferry-big falls. If you want any help/advice on fishing the New or any of the numerous trout streams let me know!

I'm in Blacksburg as well. Trying to learn more parts of the New to hit, mostly do below big falls and the eggleston area. Just took up fly fishing this year too, only bass right now. A lot of fun. Would be glad to meet up sometime to exchange some knowledge.

Thanks for the offer! Phil tells me you are quite the fisherman. I checked out your blog, btw, and enjoyed reading about some of your exploits, thanks for sharing.

Another Hokie! We should try and meet up some time. So far, I've fished from Whitethorne all the way down to Rich Creek, but usually will be found lurking around Eggleston or Ripplemead. Maybe you could teach me a couple of flyfishing tips. :) I'd be more than happy to show you the water I'm familiar with!

Sounds good to me. I don't know how many tips I'd have on fly fishing haha but I'm happy to share what I know. PM me if you want to meet up sometime.

The Shangri-La of Southern California ehh?

Welcome to the 'right' coast and yes, you are in a great place.

The New River Valley's spectacular so you shouldn't be missing the Los Padres National Forest to much.

I too am a transplant from CA - lived in Huntington Beach before moving east.

Cool! I lived in Newport Beach/ Costa Mesa for 4 years myself. Awesome place to be...as long as you don't want to get out of the city! Pretty landlocked down there. I miss a couple of things about SoCal...and really miss the Eastern Sierra, but do like the change out here, and love the fishing!
