Backlash is a wonderful thing  !

I had a nice one last year that I spent about an hour on before cutting it. That 832 braid isn't cheap . I use the trick where you press your thumb on the spool and reel in after you backlash. Takes a few tries sometimes but it works.

I have used that method with some success before but not this time...and yeah at over $20 for a spool of this fluoro it kinda hurts

I too feel your pain. I actually hung a spinnerbait in the front carrying handle on my kayak about a week ago. I was trying to cast it very low to get it under some branches. I didn't even bother trying to pick that birdsnest out! I had to crush down the barb with some pliers just to get the hook out of the nylon part of the handle. That reminds me, I've got a reel to respool.

STOP!

While adding scissors to your tackle box, go in the sewing section of your walmart and add a micro crochet hook. ;) Seriously dude. I try to remember to always keep this little jewel in my tool kit along with the needle nose and other gear. Remember to get the small one, and you can add the larger sizes if you want...

They come in handy for getting knots undone on a multitude of other things as well. But for those stubborn birds nests, the micro size is amazing, slips into the tangle and lets you pull the pack apart.

:)

Saw one of my daughters working away one day and thought, Man, that's exactly what I need. Tried to beg, borrow, or steal one of her smallest hooks, she told me that wally world had hundreds... head out. She loves me so.....

Hey, and if the fish aren't biting, you could always crochet a braided sweater from 50 pound braid in bright orange.

I get those every now and then...normally can count on one when everything is looking good as I'm approaching honey hole in XX Stealth mode. For some reason I always put that extra ummpth into the cast and end up spending 10 minutes of prime time digging out the mess.
