6-1 largemouth.

Postby LowHybred09 » Tue Apr 24, 2012 10:47 pm

Went down to a stretch of river I like to fish for big largemouth with dreams of a 6-10lb bass on my 9" bullshad. The thought kept running through my head that I was going to catch a big bass today, and not just any old bass....a bass I have tangled with before. Or at least I believe I have. I missed a big bass on a tree a few weeks back on a shakyhead that I felt but lost after a few head shakes. Never stuck it. Well when I got to that tree today I tossed a 6" green pumpkin Yum dinger in the exact spot and looked down for a second. When I looked up my line had ran 5ft out of the tree to the right. I reeled down tight and set the hook. The fish just slowly started heading for deep water. That's when I knew it was big. It just started turning my yak and then taking line like it was easy. I was thinking 8+ at first with the strength of this bass. When I finally got it to the surface after several hard runs I could see it was about 6lbs. The hook was gone down it's mouth so I eased her over and lipped her nice and easy like it's meant to go. She was a beautiful, fat and healthy largemouth that went 6-1. But there was a dilema, no one there to take a decent pic and my phone has no timer. I did get a good one on another camera but have to get to a computer to upload it off the memory card. I also caught 3 spots under a pound on the sammy and also missed a huge bass on the sammy, just saw a hump back go over the top but miss....it was BIG! I think it was a big shoal bass from it's location. Got one more dink largie on the dinger and also missed a few on my way back up on the sammy.
