I put mine in at 3. He was bored in 10 minutes. AND he even caught fish! Just expect a short trip, that's all I'm sayin'. And it's awesome at least that a PFD at Wal Mart for his size is like $20.

And I'm sure you know this, but I'll pass it on anyway.... Get an UL combo set up with a small, maybe #6 -or #8 hook, cut a small piece of Gulp of a spent body, and it will catch fish constantly in all waters. Now, even on our skiff, my boy (8 now) would rather fish for pinfish than anything else. Constant action. AND we got his attention span up to an hour!

I am not even planning on taking him out fishing in the yak this year. I am just going to get him used to being in a boat a little bit. I wil lry some bank fishing with him though so he can run around a little and try and reel a fish in when needed
